One of the great things about working in the Active Communities Team is being able to work with some fantastic community projects on a daily basis.  One of the groups we are privileged to work with is the brilliant Grow Project – Southampton which is a day service for adults with learning and physical disabilities helping to achieve their goals by providing a sense of purpose, choice and opportunity.

"GROW supports individuals to gain new skills in a person centered environment around the projects key skills. The garden is a fantastic opportunity for our members to build new relationships with others and to develop their team work skills. The garden will be turned into a sensory garden and the members are excited to work on a project from start to finish." - Sonja O'Donnell (The GROW Project)

The Grow Project guys come in a couple of times a month to work on the community garden at the front of our office at the Southampton Outdoor Sports Centre.  We have already seen the transformation begin from an overgrown, unloved plot of land into something resembling a garden.  Each time our keen gardeners turn up we will be nipping outside, whatever the weather, to have a chat and take some photos.  We shall then update our site with photos of the transformation over the course of the year!

To whet your horticultural appetites here are some of the team’s visions as well as photos of their effort so far:

This is the vision of the Grow Project - Southampton to up-cycle some colour into our Community Garden.
